As if the already loquacious masses needed another forum in which to air their every thought - along comes the blog. For some reason, I think its a great invention. Its like reading the editorials, but all the time and on any subject. On all subjects. I guess I haven't really updated this one continuously because I sort of feel that by posting at all, I'm making some sort of assumption that someone other than me - perhaps even strangers - wants to hear me ramble on about god knows what. When its my kids, I guess I can understand the fascination although I do think I'm probably still more interested in the subject than any possible reader could be. But now, when I am about to start posting for no real reason, on a more regular basis (provided I remember and can shake the screaming babies off my leg for long enough), I am admitting to myself and to you, that I think I am even a little interesting. Although I guess it could also be because when cooped up with a 2 year old and a 2 month old all day long, I want to at least pretend to speak with adults some of the time.
In any case, here we are again. Renamed (again), and remodeled at least a bit - free blogs will only let you do so much - I am going to come back into the world of the "blogger" (could they have come up with a better word?). I am thinking that since, as I insinuated, this is really for my benefit as much as anyone else's, I will write about whatever I damn well please. Usually probably Lucy and Jack, because honestly when you devote so much of your time to people, even people so small, you want to talk about them a little bit. But I might also bore you with stories of my knitting. Oh that's right. If you're among the 1.5 readers of this blog who possibly don't know that I knit with every iota of my free time, then welcome. Enjoy reading. I'm sure we've never met. Or maybe I will talk about cooking - I do that now, did you know? Or my house. I have one of those too.
To sum up, this will be super fun for you, dear reader, I promise. In the mean time - my free time for the moment has ended since I hear the soft, gentle whining of the two year old waking up from her too-short-nap, so I must get myself hence. Some recent pictures for your enjoyment. More to come soon.

A Good Night
Here we are on what I believe is day 3 of Jack - maybe day 2 in terms of complete days. In any case I was prepared to have a rough night, since I'm here alone (John having primary care of the OTHER child - turns out we have two now). Jack was super hungry all afternoon yesterday and didn't seem in the evening like he was going to be all that keen on going to sleep for any increments, let alone 3 hours at a time. But as soon as I decided I'd get some early sleep to prepare, he fell into a clockwork schedule - fed at 8, 10, 1 and 4 which sounds like a lot but was in face pretty perfect, as far as second nights go. So I slept, he slept, all was good.
Mom (LaLa) spent the day here yesterday, and will be spending a lot of today as well, which is great. Uncle Francis is also coming, and I think big sister Lucy should be back this afternoon.
Okay, time for us to rest - come visit!

Jack!
In any case, everything went fine, everyone is still doing fine. John was here most of yesterday and Lucy was with her paternal grandparents - although she did get to come down in the afternoon to meet her baby brother! She was a bit wary but stared at him with giggly smiles while he sat with us on the bed, so hopefully that's a positive sign. I think she was probably fairly overwhelmed that he was finally NOT in my tummy anymore. We'll see how visits go - she was also fairly concerned that I wasn't coming home with her, but oh well. Part of growing up.
So Jack and I spent the night alone here together - he spent much of it in the nursery since they don't want to have babies spend the whole night alone with a c-section mommy - if something were to go wrong, I can't jump out of bed to get him. But he was in every couple of hours to eat, so we got to see each other.
I'll be posting more pictures although uploading is being pretty annoying (as in not working great), and I'll try to do another post later in the day.
Emails and calls and visits are welcome - I'll be here for a few more days - write to me (schaeffer.becky@gmail.com) if you want to come on by!

Still here, still pregnant
So the last time I posted was September. Oh well. Baby #2 (as I'm sure you know if you are reading this) was due on Thursday (7/1), so I figured it was time to start up again, since updates are easier this way I think. Baby boy Schaeffer WILL be born by Wednesday at the latest, so never fear. Since Lucy was a c-section, I am going for a VBAC this time, which I'll let you google on your own so as to not get too graphic. Although beverly hospital is fairly supportive about encouraging this, they don't want to let you go more than a week after your due date if you are a VBAC so I'm scheduled for then if nothing has happened on its own. They also don't like to induce you if you're a VBAC because pitocin makes your contractions way strong and this has a risk of - well, upping the risk. Anyway enough techno birthy talk. Its happening soon regardless - and if he's born on Wednesday we will have the SAME BIRTHDAY which is pretty hilarious.
Anyway I will post more later, but I don't expect many developments the way I'm feeling....maybe I will find some cute pictures of Lucy since the last ones I put on the blog are from like almost a year ago...
